These new types of metal puzzles are really becoming popular with puzzlers. The anodised aluminium is colourful but also very strong so many different types of shapes can be interlocked.

Each puzzle is in it’s own nicely presented clear lid metal tin with a solution inside. Great to give as a gift. The puzzles sit inside the tin in a cutout rubber surround to minimise scratching and store your puzzle in after use.  The puzzles look so good that you probably won’t want to put them away anyway and they make a fascinating and intriguing display item or executive desk piece.

WAN Puzzle high-level metal take apart

The puzzle has four pieces that loosely speaking resemble tuning forks bent into an L shape.  The pieces interlock into a base which has slots cut into it.

The process to get them all out of the base takes 25 steps, and then you have to work that in reverse to get them back in again. You will need to have made 13 directional moves from the starting position before you can even get the first piece out.

STRONG FORTRESS interlocking metal puzzle

The puzzle has four pieces to take apart and fit back together. But one of those pieces is a single cylinder. That makes the other three pieces very complicated shapes indeed.

It might look like a standard burr puzzle but you’ll quickly find that making it in metal makes the puzzle very robust.  It has allowed the inventor to use those very strange shapes to make a very different interesting take on an interlocking puzzle.

RING ROAD metal interlocking puzzle

There are three metal disks with paths cut out of them to make this puzzle. The initial challenge is to take the three pieces apart. Maybe you’ll get them apart by luck; by fiddling … and fiddling … and more fiddling.  But why not challenge yourself to learn the exact sequence of moves. Once you’ve done that you will find it harder to put them back together again and reassemble the sphere shape.

TRILATERAL TRIANGLE heavy metal burr

Collectors are loving metal puzzles these days and this triangular metal burr is one to add to your collection. It has three identical pieces interlocked to make a triangular shape.

CROSS-HATCH 4 piece metal burr

This metal interlocked burr has four unusual shaped pieces that interlock to make a shape like a cross-hatch or hashtag or the number symbol #.

The puzzle definitely lends itself to metal, heavy metal, rather than wood because of the odd shapes and angles would be difficult to make strong enough to interlock the way they do. With this type of puzzle, it’s taken for granted (unless otherwise stated) that no force is required to do the puzzle and that’s still true here but with this one it would be difficult to break anyway!

This bright blue anodised pieces are very attractive and the shape lends itself to a modern theme. Great for the desk of that person who’s hooked on Twitter and other social media! It can move quite a lot without coming apart. It won’t just fall apart by mistake that’s for sure.

STRETCHY METAL SNAKE Cube puzzle

The puzzle is to build a larger cube from the length of 27 smaller cubes. The 27 smaller cubes are arranged like a chain on an elastic rope. Often known as the Snake Cube, sometimes also known as the Chain Cube or the Elastic Cube. It takes a complex set of moves – bending, placing and stacking the smaller cubes on top of one another to create a single solid cube shape.
